3D scanning & reverse engineering

For when the part exists but the print does not, or the print exists but nobody knows whether the part conforms. We scan, we rebuild, and we hand you evidence instead of opinions.

Three different uses

01

Reverse engineering

From physical part to solid CAD model, ready to machine or modify. You get the file, not just a copied part.

Delivered in STEP and native

02

Dimensional report

The real part compared against the nominal model, with a color deviation map and point callouts on the characteristics you care about.

Signed PDF report

03

Digitizing for fixtures

We scan the real part so nests and locators copy its true form, not the theoretical one. That is what makes a part seat without being forced.

How it is done

01

Preparation and scanning

The surface is prepared if needed and the part is captured from multiple positions until the geometry closes.

02

Mesh processing

Captures are aligned, noise is cleaned and a closed STL mesh is generated.

03

CAD reconstruction

A parametric solid is rebuilt over the mesh with real surfaces and features — not a converted mesh. That difference matters the moment you want to modify the part.

04

Comparison and report

Where the job calls for it, the part is compared against nominal and a dimensional report is issued with a color map and callouts.

05

File delivery

You receive mesh, model and report. The files are yours even if somebody else does the machining.

Scanning questions

How accurate is the scan?

Equipment accuracy is listed on our capabilities page. Practically speaking: it is sufficient for tooling reverse engineering and for automotive part dimensional reports, which is what we use it for every day.

Can you scan at our plant?

Yes, for parts that cannot be moved or cannot leave the plant. We schedule the visit and bring the equipment.

What part sizes can you scan?

From small components to large structures captured in aligned sections. Tell us the approximate size and we will confirm the method before quoting.

Do I get the model even if you do not machine the part?

Yes. Scanning and reconstruction stand on their own as a service. If you then manufacture with us, all the better, but it is not a condition.

Send the print. We answer with a number.

Upload your drawing or 3D model and get a formal quote within 24–48 business hours. If anything is missing from the file, we tell you the same day instead of leaving you waiting.
