Wire EDM services in Mexico
Wire electrical discharge machining in the Puebla industrial corridor. We cut already-hardened steel, hold effectively sharp internal corners and apply no force to the part. No minimum quantity.
Wire EDM solves a narrow set of problems that no other process solves well. If your part falls into one of these cases, wire is not an alternative — it is the only sensible route.
Cutting after heat treatment
The classic manufacturing order — machine the final geometry, then harden — ruins the work: the part moves in the furnace, corners round over and the fit is lost. Wire inverts the order: rough, heat treat, then cut final geometry in full hardness.
D2 at 60 HRC cuts as readily as annealed stock, because the process depends on electrical conductivity rather than hardness.
Internal corners without a radius
An end mill always leaves an internal corner radius equal to the tool. Wire leaves a radius on the order of its own diameter — a fraction of that. On a cutting insert or a square pocket, that difference decides whether the stamped part comes out clean or with a burr.
Thin parts that cannot take clamping load
With no mechanical contact there is no deflection and no chatter. Thin sheet, laminations and slender profiles can be cut that would lift off the fixture under milling.
Recovering expensive parts
When a tap or drill breaks inside a part that is already finished and expensive, wire EDM removes it without scrapping the part. It is one of the emergency services most requested from the industrial corridor around us.
What we need to quote
A DXF or STEP with the profile is ideal; a dimensioned PDF also works, it just takes a little longer because the contour has to be redrawn. Tell us the material, the thickness and whether the part is already heat treated.
Quotes come back in 24 to 48 business hours. If you have a line down, say so in the first message and we re-sequence machine load.
Frequently asked
What materials can you cut?
Any conductive material: carbon and tool steels, stainless, aluminum, copper, brass and carbide. Plastics and ceramics are non-conductive and cannot be cut this way.
Will you cut a single part?
Yes — that is where the process makes the most sense. There is no special tooling to build, so one part does not carry a disproportionate setup cost.
Can I supply my own material?
Yes. Mention it when requesting the quote so we can deduct it from the price and confirm the thickness fits the machine.
What is your maximum cutting thickness?
It depends on the machine; exact capacity is on our capabilities page. Send the part and we confirm it fits before quoting.
